Welcome to one of the most prestigious Ukrainian
spas in the famous town of Chmelnik that is located in Vinnitsa
region. This town is a balneological spa of a national importance
and it occupies the area of 2049,3 hectares. It is located on the
river Southern Bug in a cup-like cavity. The climate of this area
is gently warm, mild, it has no sudden fluctuations in temperature,
favorable for one's organism and, besides, corresponds to the "comfort
zone".
In 1970 Chmelnik became a well-known spa town,
where 70 thousands people come to receive treatment each year. That
was connected with an opening of mineral waters deposit not far
from the town. In 1934 a hydrological expedition came from Kiev
to Chmelnik with a purpose to find a drinking water. But the water
found in the center of the town was tasteless, hard and saltish.
The well attracted attention of the Scientists
of Ukrainian Scientific-research Institute of Balneology and Physiotherapy
and the Institute of Geology of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. By
means of thorough research radium emanations (radon), free carbon
dioxide, nitrogen, calcium, natrium, potassium, magnesium, manganese,
iron, hydrocarbonates, chlorine, sulphates, iodine, bromine, trace
amounts of cobalt, ammonia, resinous substance and so on were found
in the extracted liquid. By its structure the water was ascribed
to radon, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbonate-chlorine-calcium-natrium
mineral water with a high content of manganese, which represents
a high balneological value. After some time scientists worked out
the first instructions for treatment with the help of radon water.
The first small hydropathic establishment was inaugurated. Unfortunately,
in the war time it was robbed and destroyed. Its second birth the
hydropathic establishment experienced already in 1944.
The real pearl of Chmelnik spa today is "Podolie"
health centre. It is situated in the woodland the majority of which
is occupy conifers. The area of the forest park is 10 hectares.
Today it is one of the best and well-known spas with splendidly
developed infrastructure of medical business.
Exactly here, in the silence of the thick forest,
one can rest mentally and physically and those vacationists who
wish to improve the state of their health will be able to evaluate
properly antiphlogistic and soothing properties of radon baths.
One can buy accomodation for the time of stay
for 24 or 18 days. The health centre is meant for 610 places: at
your service are rooms for one and two places and first class rooms.
Professionals of the highest class serve the vacationists - candidates
of science and doctors of the highest, first and second qualification
category. Medical-diagnostic building, sport-sanitary complex, balneological
and peat clinics and also the club are situated not far from the
sleeping buildings.
These is a lake in the forest park zone.
The canteen, where business-hall works, provides
with the rational food.
Cultural work for vacationists is held by the
club, where the library, cinema and dance-hall are situated.
Everyone has an opportunity to have a pleasant
rest in the winter garden, and in the time, free of treatment, vacationists
have an opportunity to undertake a number of excursions.
Also shops, bar, hairdresser's, booking office
for beforehand booking of tickets and car park are situated on the
territory of the health centre. Besides, various post service are
rendered. In short, we have everything you may need during the rest
and treatment!
"The health centre "Podolie"
has been functioning for already 35 years". During this time
the sanatorium obtained the republican value. There were ascents
and falls, but the fact remains: today the health centre "Podolie"
is one of the best in Ukraine. we are well-known also outside our
country… Health is the first and the most important necessity for
a human being. It determines the capacity for work of the human
being and their harmonic personal development. And exactly that's
why I am grateful to my parents, my fate and my native Podolie region
for my profession — the real vocation of my soul and heart.
